Yesterday celebrity blogger Perez Hilton made an announcement that him, American Idol Creator Simon Fuller, and creative director Jaime King had put together a boy band consisting of five members. All of the members and between the age of 14-16. There are few major reasons why this group will not become relevant.
1. Over manufactured
I think its safe to say that one Justin Bieber in this world is enough. Now take Justin Bieber and multiply by 5. The market has become over saturated with artist who do not write their own music and unless you write your own music or have an emotional connection the the lyrics the inauthenticity is going to get under the audience's skin.
2. One Direction
One Direction is a boy group who were put together by Simon Cowell on the UK version of The X Factor and IM5 will no doubt be compared to them on an international level. When we compare the talent of the two groups One Direction's more mature style and talent shames IM5.
3. Perez Hilton
Every knows the story of the nasty blogger turned "nice" but the truth is he has alienated his fanbase to the point that if you read the comments on his still hugely popular blog 9 out of the 10 comments are criticism of Hilton. Everyone will associate IM5 with Hilton, and most likely it will make for a bad association.
4. Talent (or lack there of)
Hilton premiered the group on his blog by posting a video of them doing a cover of the Jessie J hit Domino. (video above) The performance was not great. The harmonies where not tight, they changed the lyrics to suit the younger singers, and the boys had nowhere near the vocal capacity to do the song justice. A smarter move would have been to premiere them with an original or unpopular song so when you listend to the video you would not be constantly thinking of how much better the original version is.
Ouch.

DeleteHonestly like I don't think Im5 won't make it big because of lack of talent, but more of lack of promotion. Like maybe there is space where they can improve but I think they are very talented and young which is really good too. I love 1D but their style is kinda different from Im5's.

ReplyDeleteI actually believe you, I mean I really like IM5...but I am an extreme fan of One Direction (Hardcore Directioner) and well, 1D seems to attract way more attention and the fact they are in the spotlight doesn't help the growth of IM5. Even though they are talented (they have improved, a lot), I think it is not their time. plus, I agree with the Perez statement. I can't stand him, always insulting us Directioners...it's odd to know other band you like idolizes him. Just. No.
ReplyDeleteIt is now 2014 and IM5 is still irrelevant, always will be! They still sing horrible and Dalton has left the band. One Direction is still in the spotlight and if they got compared to them, they would totally and absolutely be shamed.
ReplyDeleteIt's 2015 now and IM5 is still RELEVANT. They are not and have not been compared to One Direction yet because they are that good. And even though Dalton, David and Will left the rest of the boys are still going strong and coming up with good music. They have a strong and loyal fan base whom I'm sure will be supporting not only the remaining boys of IM5 but the boys that left too. IM5 deserves credit for staying strong even when the boys they considered brothers left. Plus, how can y'all even compare IM5 to One Direction?! One Direction consists of older boys whom gained world wide attention (through the UK version of the X Factor) much easier and faster than IM5 did and yet they are known world wide now, they deserve that much credit!! Plus IM5 interact with their fans more that One Direction has ever done.

Also, to all you IM5 critics; it's 2015 now so why don't y'all quit being judgmental assholes.
