Sochi mayor: "No gay people in city."

Anatoly Pakhomov said homosexuals were welcome at the Games - as long as they "respect Russian law" and "don't impose their habits on others".

In June 2013, Russia passed a law banning the promotion of "non-traditional" sexuality to people under the age of 18. The law has been used to put a stop to gay rights protest in Russia
Anatoly Pakhomov, a member of President Vladimir Putin's United Russia party, told Panorama that gay people would be welcome at the Games.
"Our hospitality will be extended to everyone who respects the laws of the Russian Federation and doesn't impose their habits on others", he said.
But when asked whether gay people had to hide their sexuality in Sochi, the Mayor said: "No, we just say that it is your business, it's your life. But it's not accepted here in the Caucasus where we live. We do not have them in our city."

Woman Eaten by Vultures

The body of a woman who fell more than 300 meters was devoured within minutes by vultures.

The 52-year old woman took the fall while taking a shortcut while hiking with friends on Pic de la Pista, in southern France.

"There were only bones, clothes and shoes left," after the vultures got to her, gendarmerie Major Didier Pericou told The Times of London. "They took 45 to 50 minutes to eat the body."

“It is established that she died in the fall," he said. “When we first went out in the helicopter looking for the body, we saw numerous vultures without realising what they were doing."

Guantanamo Bay Blows Through $900,000 a Year Per Inmate

This week President Obama cited cost as one of the many reasons the close the detention center in Guantanamo Bay. Guantanamo Bay, which burns through $900,000 annually per inmate, has been in operation for 11 years.

The Pentagon released estimates that it spends $150 million annually to operate the prison. With 166 inmates currently in custody, that amounts to an annual cost of $903,614 per inmate.

By comparison, super-maximum security prisons in the United States spend about $60,000 to $70,000 at most to house their inmates, analysts say. And the average cost across all federal prisons is about $30,000, they say.

The high cost was just one reason Obama cited when he returned this week to an unfulfilled promise to close the prison and said he would try again. Obama also said that the prison, set up under his Republican predecessor George W. Bush and long the target of criticism by rights groups and foreign governments, is a stain on the reputation of the United States.

Many US women asking for a "Kate Middleton Nose"

The Duchess of Cambridge's popularity has crossed the pond but for perhaps a different reason than you would think. The New York Daily News is reporting a sharp upsurge in the amount of women asking the surgeons to give them the Kate Middleton Nose.

"It has become so popular that we have made a file of a dozen Kate Middleton pictures to show patients when they come in for their consultation," Dr Greenberg said.

He also said that he currently has more than 20 women waiting to get the royal honker. The procedure runs at about $7,000 a nose.

"Women, especially over the age of 28, want the nose of a woman who is regal, refined and strong," he says. "They certainly don't want the scooped out, over-affected, upturned, pinched nose of a pop star."

One women, Jessica Blaier, who underwent the procedure explains why the royal nose is a good choice to model you own after, "The goal was to have my new nose look natural," she says. "So when people don't notice it, that's a good thing. But I know that my nose was modeled by Kate Middleton, and that's what is most important."

Couple planted and swallowed razor blades in doughnuts

A Utah couple has found themselves in hot water after it was discovered that not only did they plant razor blades in a grocery store's doughnuts but they also proceeded to eat them in an effort to win a lawsuit which would allow the to escape debt.

The couple, Michael Condor, 35, and Carrol Lee Leazer, 39, were both arrested monday. Among the charges was assault because the couple let one of their co-workers at a Dollar Tree store bite into one of the doughnuts.

Police got a call last week from someone who reported finding a triangular piece of sharp metal in a doughnut purchased from Smith's Food Store.

Hospital X-rays showed many fingernail sized pieces of metal in the couples stomach. as detectives looked into it, “things weren’t adding up,” Draper police Sgt. Chad Carpente said.

Investigators told the Deseret News newspaper that the couple were trying to win a settlement from the store. The couple were in debt, the newspaper reported, citing a police statement.
The co-worker bit into the suspect doughnut but did not swallow it and was unhurt, Carpenter said. The co-worker is the one who reported the metal to police, Carpenter told KSL.
